Nollywood actor and filmmaker Lateef Adedimeji has opened up about his journey before fame and his marital life.
In an emotional conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the talented actor shared how his mentor in the Yoruba movie industry once predicted his failure within a year. Unfazed by the remark, Lateef confidently responded, requesting two years to prove his worth.
The actor also discussed the online trolling his wife of nearly four years has endured, particularly the cruel comments calling her barren because they have yet to have a child. Despite the negativity, Lateef shared that his wife remains strong and always reassures him that everything will be fine.
He also revealed how several colleagues who had promised to support him during his project Lisabi ultimately did not stand by him. Fortunately, his wife was a constant source of support, bolstering his confidence.
In his own words:
“Someone once told me in the Yoruba movie industry that he gave me one year to see what I would become. I told him to give me two years and he will see what I will become.
My wife and I have received a lot of trolling. Recently, someone called her barren on social media. She would always show it to me and would say they would be all right.
I just called her one morning and asked if she would marry me, and she said Yes.
When I wanted to do my first big screen job, Lisabi, I realized that everybody I thought would stand by me was not there; there was nobody.”
