Canadian rapper Drake has filed a lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG), alleging the company promoted Kendrick Lamar’s diss track Not Like Us, which contained defamatory claims labeling him a pedophile.

According to TMZ, Drake accuses UMG of spreading a “false and malicious narrative” and claims the label was aware the song would harm his reputation.

The lawsuit alleges UMG used bots to inflate the track’s streams by over 30 million and engaged in a “pay-for-play” scheme with radio promoters, falsely positioning the song as a chart-topper.

Drake clarified in the suit that his legal action is not directed at Lamar but at UMG, stating, “This lawsuit is not about the artist who created Not Like Us. It is entirely about UMG, the music company that decided to publish, promote, exploit, and monetize a song containing false claims.”
