Chris Brown Files $500 Million Defamation Lawsuit Against Warner Bros. Discovery Over Docuseries

Chris Brown has initiated a $500 million defamation lawsuit against Warner Bros. Discovery, Ample Entertainment, and others over the docuseries Chris Brown: A History of Violence, which aired on Investigation Discovery in October 2024.

In the lawsuit, the 35-year-old singer accuses the producers of promoting defamatory claims, including allegations that he raped a woman in 2020. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Brown asserts that he provided evidence disproving the accusations, yet the docuseries continued to circulate damaging narratives.

The lawsuit highlights that the Jane Doe featured in the series, who accused Brown of sexual assault, had her claims discredited multiple times. Additionally, her $20 million lawsuit against Brown in 2022 was dismissed the same year due to lack of prosecution. Brown’s legal team argues that these facts were ignored by the series’ producers, causing significant harm to his reputation, career, and business ventures.

In the complaint, Brown is seeking $500 million in damages, with plans to donate a portion of the amount to victims of sexual abuse if the lawsuit is successful. He contends that the series has had a lasting negative impact on his public image.

The Jane Doe, whose identity was protected through silhouette on-camera testimony, stated in the documentary that she aimed to “shed light on what really happened.” Brown disputes her account and maintains his innocence.

The lawsuit underscores the growing tensions between public figures and media portrayals, especially in high-profile cases involving sensitive allegations.
