President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian singer Tems on winning the Best African Music Performance category at the 67th Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Born Temilade Openiyi, Tems secured the award with her hit song Love Me Jeje, marking her second Grammy win after previously earning one for her contribution to Future’s chart-topping single, Wait For U.

The Best African Music Performance category featured strong competition, including Yemi Alade’s Tomorrow, Asake’s MMS, Chris Brown’s Sensational (featuring Davido & Lojay), and Burna Boy’s Higher.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, President Tinubu expressed pride in Tems and other Nigerian nominees at the awards.

“Congratulations to @temsbaby on winning the Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance, Love Me Jeje,” Tinubu wrote.

“I am proud of her accomplishments and those of Nigerian origin who were nominated for the Grammy Awards. Their achievements continue to inspire all Nigerians. Congratulations!”

The Best African Music Performance category, introduced in 2024, was previously won by South African star Tyla for her hit single Water.
