Iyabo Ojo has reacted after Naira Marley shared their private conversations on Instagram, revealing a previously cordial relationship between them.
The leaked messages showed Ojo inviting Marley to events, including her late mother’s remembrance ceremony, and seeking his support for her adopted son’s music career. The revelations have since sparked widespread debate on social media.
In response, Iyabo Ojo reaffirmed her commitment to seeking justice for Mohbad, emphasizing that her stance is driven by a desire for accountability in the music industry.
She wrote:
“Naira Marley recently shared our old chats, and I’d like to address some points.”
Ojo explained that, as a TikTok influencer, she has promoted songs for various artists, including Naira Marley, whose team reached out to her through her son, Festus, in 2020. She also acknowledged inviting Marley to her movie premiere and her mother’s burial party.
As someone who supports emerging artists, Ojo has helped several young musicians, allowing them to use her lounge for shows, promoting their songs, and connecting them with music producers, including Naira Marley.
However, she took issue with Marley’s failure to intervene when Mohbad was allegedly bullied by Sam Larry, a known associate of Marley.
“I never accused him of killing Mohbad, but the evidence suggests Mohbad’s life was threatened. My issue with Naira Marley stems from his failure to intervene in Mohbad’s bullying.”
She also hinted at more troubling allegations against Marley, stating that if necessary, they would be addressed in court.
“I won’t turn a blind eye to injustice, even if it involves someone I was once close to. Naira Marley, you were mistaken if you thought I’d stay silent.”
