Trump Signs Order Banning Transgender Athletes from Women’s Sports

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an executive order prohibiting transgender athletes from participating in women’s sports. The signing ceremony took place at the White House, with numerous children and female athletes in attendance.

“From now on, women’s sports will be only for women. With this executive order, the war on women’s sports is over,” Trump declared. He emphasized the administration’s commitment to protecting female athletes, stating, “We will defend the proud tradition of female athletes, and we will not allow men to beat up, injure, and cheat our women and our girls.”

The executive order also includes provisions to investigate institutions that permit transgender women to compete in women’s sports or access women’s locker rooms, with potential risks to their federal funding.

Additionally, Trump announced plans to urge the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to revise its policies on transgender athletes ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Games. He has instructed Secretary of State Marco Rubio to convey to the IOC the U.S. position on this matter.

Furthermore, Homeland Security Chief Kristi Noem has been directed to deny visa applications from individuals attempting to enter the United States under a gender identity that does not align with their biological sex, particularly in the context of athletic competitions.

This move aligns with Trump’s earlier policy decision to recognize only two genders, male and female, within U.S. government practices, discontinuing the recognition of a third gender option in certain contexts.
