Former President Muhammadu Buhari has stated that Nigeria’s security and economy improved significantly during his eight-year tenure.
Speaking on Wednesday at his country home in Daura, Katsina State, while receiving members of the Katsina State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Buhari said he inherited economic and security challenges from the Peoples Democratic Party, which governed for 16 years.
He asserted that his administration’s strategies successfully tackled these issues, curbing terrorism and economic hardship.
“Nigeria’s security and economy improved significantly under my administration compared to what we met in 2015. Things will continue to improve in Nigeria,” Buhari said.
He also acknowledged the complexities of governance, noting that only those in power truly understand the challenges involved.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Yusuf Ibrahim-Jargaba, praised Buhari’s efforts in addressing terrorism, banditry, and other security concerns. He also commended the former president’s dedication and service, which he believes contributed to maintaining national unity.
