Court Reinstates Sacked Osun Local Government Chairmen And Councillors

The reinstated local government chairmen and councillors in Osun State have resumed their duties at their respective council headquarters. Security operatives have been deployed to ensure a smooth transition and maintain law and order.

The Court of Appeal in Akure ruled in favor of the chairmen and councillors who were dismissed by Governor Ademola Adeleke in 2022, ordering their return to office.

In response, the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has praised the court’s decision, viewing it as a victory for the party and the people of Osun State.

However, the state government maintains that the Court of Appeal did not reinstate the sacked council officials and has directed security operatives to arrest any individuals attempting to disrupt the peace.

The situation remains complex, with differing interpretations of the court’s ruling. The reinstated officials are now back in their offices, but the legal and political implications continue to unfold.
