The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has pressed for the court appearance of Ezekiel Thankgod, the former manager of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, over allegations of financial misconduct.

In a statement via its X handle, the EFCC emphasized that Thankgod must appear before Justice A. O. Owoeye of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi to defend himself against a $340,000 fraud allegation.

The commission accused him of evading arraignment, prompting the court to issue a warrant for his arrest on January 16, 2025. He is facing a three-count charge of money laundering and dishonest conversion of funds allegedly belonging to Mercy Chinwo and Judith Kanayo.

One of the charges states that Thankgod and his company, EeZee Global Concepts Limited, retained $260,494 in a Zenith Bank account, which he “reasonably ought to have known” was part of the proceeds of unlawful activity.

The court has adjourned the matter to March 6, 2025, for his arraignment.
