The Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja has adjourned the alleged defamation case filed by Senior Advocate of Nigeria Femi Falana and his son, Folarin Falana (Falz), against social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as Verydarkman (VDM), to April 15, 2025.

Justice Matthias Dawodu granted the adjournment following a request from Verydarkman’s legal team, the law firm of Deji Adeyanju and Partners. In a letter dated February 18, 2025, counsel Nafiu Alagbe cited the unavailability of lead defense lawyer Marvin Omorogbe due to a “domestic emergency” and sought a new date in March or April.

While Verydarkman was absent in court, Falana was present. Counsel for the Falanas, Omotayo Olatunbosun, described the letter as a “time-wasting tactic” by the defendants. However, at the court’s prompting, he proceeded to move his counter-affidavit against Verydarkman’s preliminary objection to the suit.

Justice Dawodu subsequently adjourned the case to April 15, 2025, for a hearing.
