The Nigerian Senate has decided not to investigate Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s allegations of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio. Senate spokesperson Yemi Adaramodu stated that no formal petition had been submitted, making an official probe unnecessary.

Meanwhile, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has been referred to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions for disciplinary review following a dispute over seating arrangements in the chamber. The committee has been given two weeks to conclude its investigation and submit a report.

In a separate legal matter, a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory struck out a defamation suit filed by Akpoti-Uduaghan against Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello in June 2023. The court ruled the suit incompetent, bringing an end to the case.

These developments highlight the legal and political challenges surrounding Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan within Nigeria’s political landscape.
