A massive explosion rocked the Trans-Niger Pipeline (TNP) on Monday night in Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, sparking a fire at the site.

The TNP, a critical pipeline transporting crude oil to the Bonny Export Terminal, remains ablaze as of Tuesday morning, with emergency response teams assessing the damage.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion, which remains unknown. While some speculate technical faults, others are considering possible sabotage, especially in light of recent threats by militant groups targeting oil installations.

So far, there has been no official statement from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) or security agencies regarding the incident.
