Former Niger Delta agitator turned traditional ruler, Asari Dokubo, has reaffirmed his loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, stating that he cannot part ways with him because Tinubu supported him during his darkest times.

This comes months after Dokubo publicly accused Tinubu of betrayal following the 2023 elections. In a viral video, he claimed to have emptied his bank account to campaign for Tinubu, only to feel abandoned after the election. At the time, he declared that he and his people would no longer align with the Yoruba but would instead seek new alliances in the north.

However, in a recent video, Dokubo appeared to reverse his stance, emphasizing his enduring loyalty to Tinubu.

“When you have a friend, it is difficult to part with them because you have to look back at yesterday,” he said. “The memories of yesterday will keep playing in your head. In my darkest time, Ahmed Bola Tinubu stood by me. I can’t forget it so easily, no matter what happens.”
