The Lagos State Government has announced plans to install 3,000 electronic police (e-police) and speed limit cameras to enhance traffic law enforcement and improve road safety.

The Director of the Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS), Engr. Akin-George Fashola, disclosed this on Tuesday during Lagos Transport Trends and Perspectives, a radio program sponsored by the Ministry of Transportation on Traffic Radio 96.1 FM.

Fashola revealed that speed limit cameras are already operational at key locations, including Alapere-Ogudu Road, where the speed limits are set at 80 km/h inbound Alausa and 60 km/h inbound Iyana Oworo. Cameras have also been installed along Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way to enforce a 60 km/h speed limit.

Additionally, e-police cameras have been deployed at Allen Junction and Nurudeen Olowopopo Road in Ikeja to monitor traffic violations such as red-light infractions.

Fashola urged motorists to observe warning signs placed at these locations to ensure compliance with traffic regulations.

On penalties, he stated that offenders caught exceeding speed limits would be fined ₦50,000. However, motorists who believe they were wrongly penalized can contest the fine by providing evidence to support their claim.
