Reno Omokri Criticizes Flaunting Wealth at School Reunions

Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has criticized the practice of showcasing wealth at school reunions.

In a series of tweets, Omokri took aim at individuals who attend these gatherings to display luxury items such as Rolex watches and Bentley cars. He argued that such behavior can have harmful effects, leading to feelings of inadequacy, depression, and even suicidal thoughts among classmates.

According to Omokri, school reunions should be about reconnecting with old friends and reliving shared memories, not platforms for competition or social comparison.

“We know you are successful. But don’t go to your school’s reunion party with your Rolex and Bentley. It is just cruel! How do you expect your classmates who have not made it to feel?” he wrote.

“Many of you have caused depression and even suicides by going to an occasion that is meant to bring back good memories only to create sad remembrances for your classmates.”

“Just show up and don’t show off. You don’t help, and you still want to oppress. What type of wickedness is that? You all started with nothing together. And nothing will follow you when you leave this world as we all must!”

Omokri urged people to be more considerate, emphasizing that school reunions should foster meaningful connections rather than serve as a showcase for material success.
