Federal Court Halts Arrest Warrant Against VeryDarkMan in Mercy Chinwo Case

The legal battle involving gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, her former manager Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu (Eezee Tee), and social media activist Martins Vincent Otse (VeryDarkMan) has taken a new turn.

On March 13, 2025, a Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, issued a bench warrant for VeryDarkMan’s arrest over allegations of criminal defamation filed by Chinwo. The warrant was issued after he failed to appear in court.

However, in a video posted on his Instagram page, VeryDarkMan announced that a Federal High Court has now intervened, issuing an order that overrides the magistrate’s court decision. According to him, the new order stays the execution of the arrest warrant and restrains the Inspector General of Police and all officers under his command from enforcing it.

“This means the case is now on hold, and the magistrate’s court can no longer preside over it,” he explained. He also revealed that the judge who ordered his arrest is now listed as a defendant in the case.

VeryDarkMan alleged that certain influential figures had tried to discredit him by spreading false claims that he was paid to speak against others. Despite this, he reaffirmed his commitment to speaking out against oppression and injustice, stating, “I will never take money to twist the truth.”

This latest development marks a significant shift in the ongoing legal dispute, as the case moves from the magistrate’s court to a higher legal authority.
