In a bid to avert the planned indefinite strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), the Federal Government has said it will pay the sum of N35,000 incremental wage to all federal civil servants across board.
The decision was reached during a marathon meeting with officials of the labour unions, as the Bola Tinubu-led administration battled to prevent a protracted strike action.
The Government had initially settled for N25,000 for only the lowest-grade workers, before increasing it by N10, 000.
Other offers given to Labour include the suspension of Value Added Tax on imported diesel for 6 months and a commitment to “fast-tracking the provision of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to ease public transportation difficulties associated with the removal of PMS subsidy”.
