The Kogi State Government has called on security agencies to hold Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan liable for any violence that may occur following her recent homecoming rally in the state, beesreignmedia.com reports.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Kingsley Fanwo, the state’s Commissioner for Information, accused the senator of defying a government ban on political gatherings that was put in place by Governor Usman Ododo’s administration.

Fanwo criticized Akpoti-Uduaghan for allegedly attempting to stir up tensions and incite unrest in Kogi Central. “She must be held accountable for her blatant disregard of the state’s peacekeeping measures,” Fanwo remarked, claiming that the senator’s visit was intended to provoke conflict in the region.

The commissioner further alleged that Akpoti-Uduaghan had “intentionally flouted” the ban, which was meant to ensure public safety and preserve order.

Despite the restriction, Akpoti-Uduaghan received a warm reception from a large crowd of supporters and locals in Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area, on Tuesday morning. By 8 a.m., people from all five local government areas in Kogi Central had gathered to welcome the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker.
