Popular Nigerian actor and comedian Okon Lagos, whose real name is Ime Bishop Umoh, has issued a passionate appeal to President Bola Tinubu via Instagram, urging him to leverage the ongoing US-China trade war to Nigeria’s advantage.
In his post, the comedian suggested that Nigeria should position itself as a new hub for luxury brand factories impacted by the escalating tensions between the two global superpowers.
“President Tinubu, please take advantage of the US-China trade war. Redirect the factories of ‘victimized’ luxury brands to Nigeria. Aba, Kano, Uyo, PH will be ready,” he wrote.
Okon Lagos emphasized that cities like Aba, Kano, Uyo, and Port Harcourt are ready to accommodate such industrial ventures, presenting Nigeria as a viable alternative for displaced manufacturers.
His call comes amid rising global economic shifts, as trade restrictions and tariffs continue to disrupt the operations of many international companies, including those in the luxury goods sector.
