The 17th edition of the Headies Awards 2025, held on Sunday at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos, celebrated the brilliance of African music with major wins by stars like Tems, Rema, Flavour, and Davido.
Tems captured the prestigious Best Recording of the Year award with her soulful track “Burning,” further cementing her place as one of Africa’s leading voices. She also delivered a stunning live performance that lit up the evening.
Rema continued his impressive global streak, clinching the Afrobeats Album of the Year for his project HEIS, while his hit song “OZEBA” earned London the Producer of the Year award. Fans celebrated Rema’s consistent domination across international charts.
Flavour also had a standout night, with his track “Big Baller” winning Afrobeats Single of the Year, reaffirming his legendary status. The singer received massive praise across social media for his energy and charisma at the event.
Davido was honored as Best Digital Artiste of the Year, recognizing his massive influence across streaming platforms and social networks. His collaborative hit “Ogechi Remix,” with Hyce, Boypee, and Brown Joel, received multiple nominations.
The glamorous night featured appearances by top entertainers, politicians, and influencers, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, adding a touch of political prominence to the music event.
In addition to musical achievements, Special Recognition Awards and Humanitarian Awards were presented to notable figures like Sanwo-Olu, Alex Okosi, and Amaju Pinnick.
Emerging star Odumodublvck secured the highly competitive Next Rated award, while Juma Jux from Tanzania took home Best East African Artiste.
The event sparked major trends across social media with hashtags like #TheHeadies and #Headies2025, highlighting the vibrant evolution of African music on the global stage.
