Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has strongly criticized the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for its recent actions, describing them as a blatant disregard for due process and the rule of law.
In a statement released on Saturday, Atiku condemned the EFCC’s arrest and detention of Hon. Muhammad Kazaure, a former House of Representatives member and vocal critic of the current administration. He accused the anti-graft agency of operating outside constitutional boundaries, likening its actions to a pattern of lawlessness and political repression.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has once again plunged headlong into its well-worn pattern of lawlessness, arresting and detaining citizens with brazen disregard for due process and without offering any justification for its actions,” Atiku stated.
Atiku drew parallels between Kazaure’s arrest and the recent detention of social commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, who was only released after massive public outrage.
