President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alongside former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, attended the historic installation mass of Pope Leo XIV at St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City on Sunday.
The momentous occasion, which brought together world leaders and dignitaries, saw an unexpected yet cordial exchange between the Nigerian political figures. Fayemi, upon spotting President Tinubu seated among global leaders, encouraged Obi to join him in greeting the Nigerian leader. The interaction was marked by mutual respect and lighthearted conversation, with President Tinubu affirming his role as the head of Nigeria’s delegation.
Both Obi and Fayemi, known for their deep Catholic faith and status as Papal Knights, expressed their appreciation for the significance of the event and the unity it symbolized. The meeting underscored Nigeria’s commitment to interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence, aligning with the broader themes of Pope Leo XIV’s inaugural address.
