Police Officer Who Shot Schoolboy in Ibadan Now Under Investigation — Oyo State Government

The Oyo State Government has confirmed that a police officer allegedly responsible for the shooting of a schoolboy in the Bodija area of Ibadan is now under official investigation. The incident, which has drawn public concern and widespread condemnation, occurred during an operation earlier this week.

In a statement issued today, the Oyo State Government described the incident as “deeply troubling” and emphasized that it has directed the Nigeria Police Force in the state to conduct a full and transparent investigation.

According to preliminary reports from the Oyo State Police Command, the officer has been identified and relieved of active duty pending the outcome of the investigation. The case is being handled by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), and the officer is currently in custody.

The incident, which occurred on Alakia Old Road on Tuesday, has sparked outrage among residents and calls for justice.
