President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that recovered assets serve the Nigerian people, as he addressed the recent forfeiture of the 753-unit housing estate linked to former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, President Tinubu emphasized that the estate, which was officially handed over to the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), will be repurposed to benefit Nigerians. “This estate is not for sale to the highest bidder. It is for the people—locally here oo,” he stated, reinforcing his administration’s focus on transparency and equitable distribution of national assets.

The estate, located in the Federal Capital Territory, was seized by the EFCC as part of an ongoing anti-corruption drive. Housing Minister Ahmed Dangiwa, who accompanied the President during the inspection, assured Nigerians that the estate would be integrated into the government’s social housing initiative, ensuring affordability for low-income families.

EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede reiterated the agency’s commitment to ensuring that recovered assets are put to productive use. “This is not just about recovery; it is about restitution. Nigerians will benefit from this estate, and we will ensure that the allocation process is transparent and fair,” he said.
