In a candid and emotional revelation, Stephen Nana, former manager of Nigerian music sensation Asake, has opened up about the personal cost of a demanding career in the entertainment industry. Speaking in a recent interview, Nana shared how his relentless schedule and time away from home severely impacted his relationship with his second son.

“My second son couldn’t bond with me because I was never home,” Nana said. “The hustle was real. Managing a fast-rising star like Asake meant traveling constantly, handling media, late nights in the studio, tours across countries. Somewhere along the way, I missed the little moments that really matter.”

Nana, who played a crucial role in Asake’s breakthrough into the mainstream Afrobeats scene, revealed that while he was managing hit records and building an empire, his family life suffered—especially the connection with his younger child.

This isn’t a blame game; it’s just the truth,” he continued. “There are sacrifices people don’t see behind the glitz. Success often comes at a price.

“I’m not just telling my story to vent,” he said. “I want young managers and creatives to understand that your career should never cost you your family.”
