In a bold and unprecedented military operation, Ukrainian forces have successfully obliterated a significant number of Russian strategic bombers, including aircraft originally designed for nuclear warfare. The strike, which targeted multiple air bases deep within Russian territory, has been described as a major blow to Moscow’s aerial capabilities.

The operation, codenamed “Spider’s Web,” was meticulously planned over 18 months and executed using first-person-view (FPV) drones hidden in trucks. Ukrainian officials have confirmed that more than one-third of Russia’s strategic bombers were destroyed, amounting to an estimated $7 billion in losses for the Kremlin.

Despite speculation regarding international coordination, Ukrainian authorities have clarified that the U.S. President Donald Trump was not given advance notice of the attack. The strike occurred just a day before potential ceasefire talks between Ukraine and Russia, adding further complexity to ongoing diplomatic efforts.

The bombers targeted in the operation included TU-95 “Bear” nuclear bombers, TU-22 “Backfire” fast-attack bombers, and A-50 “Mainstay” command-and-control jets. The destruction of these aircraft significantly weakens Russia’s ability to launch long-range missile strikes against Ukrainian cities.
