Fire Guts Over 300 Shops in Kano Phone Market

A devastating fire broke out at the popular Farm Center GSM Market in Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State, destroying over 300 shops and causing significant losses to traders dealing in mobile phones and accessories.

The fire reportedly started around 2:00 PM at the Dan Sileka building within the market, rapidly spreading through densely packed stalls before firefighters from the Kano State Fire Service arrived to contain the blaze.

Local authorities, including the Executive Chairman of Tarauni LGA, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim Muhammad Sekure, visited the scene to assess the damage and express sympathy to affected traders. He urged government agencies, relief organizations, and the public to support the victims and emphasized the need for proactive measures to prevent future disasters.

Market leaders, including Ambassador Jamilu Bala Gama, Chairman of the Farm Center GSM Traders Association, and Alhaji Abdula’ziz Usman Mai Tabarma, the Market Managing Director, commended the swift response of the Kano State Fire Service and assured traders that efforts are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
