Federal Government Declares June 12 Public Holiday to Mark Democracy Day

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Wednesday, June 12, 2025, as a public holiday in commemoration of Democracy Day. This announcement reaffirms the nation’s commitment to celebrating the principles of democratic governance and honoring the sacrifices made in the journey toward a more prosperous and united Nigeria.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, urging Nigerians to reflect on the significance of democracy and participate in activities that promote unity, peace, and progress.
