After months of public tension, U.S. President Donald Trump has hinted at the possibility of reconciling with tech billionaire Elon Musk.

In an interview with the New York Post’s Pod Force One, Trump was asked whether he might make amends with Musk. “I guess I could,” he replied, before quickly shifting focus to broader national concerns. “We have to straighten out the country,” he said. “And my sole function now is getting this country back to a level higher than it’s ever been.”

Trump didn’t shy away from expressing his disappointment over Musk’s recent public criticisms, particularly regarding a tax and spending bill passed by the House. “When he did that, I was not a happy camper,” Trump said.

Asked about Musk’s alleged drug use, Trump responded curtly: “I don’t know what his problem is, really.” On the other hand, Musk appears ready to dial down tensions. In a post on X early Wednesday, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO acknowledged that their feud may have crossed a line.

“I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week,” Musk wrote. “They went too far.” While Musk’s statement may signal an attempt at de-escalation, Trump made it clear that personal disputes are secondary to what he considers his primary mission: restoring the country.
