The Recording Academy has officially inducted Fela Anikulapo-Kuti’s legendary 1976 album, “Zombie,” into the 2025 Grammy Hall of Fame. This prestigious recognition celebrates recordings that have made a lasting impact on music history and culture.

“Zombie,” a bold and politically charged masterpiece, was a fierce critique of military oppression in Nigeria. Its hypnotic rhythms, sharp lyrics, and fearless message cemented Fela’s status as a revolutionary artist and the pioneer of Afrobeat. The album’s influence continues to resonate across generations, inspiring global artists and movements for justice and freedom.

Fela’s eldest son, Femi Anikulapo-Kuti, expressed gratitude for the honor, stating, “Our father’s legacy lives on. We are honored to accept this Grammy Hall of Fame award on behalf of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. His music continues to inspire and unite people across the world.”
