Mr Adewale Kudabo, a 47-year-old healthcare assistant who recently relocated from Nigeria to the UK, has been sentenced to 12 months in prison for sexually assaulting a vulnerable patient at York Hospital. This incident occurred just nine months after his arrival in the country.
Kudabo, a married father of children, was convicted on two counts of sexual assault during a hearing at York Crown Court. He pleaded guilty to the offenses involving a female patient who was nearly immobile due to a serious medical condition. The assaults took place while the victim was in her hospital bed, highlighting the severity of the breach of trust in a healthcare setting.
As a consequence of his actions, Kudabo will serve half of his 12-month sentence in prison. This case serves as a reminder of the importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals in healthcare environments and the need for strict accountability for those in positions of trust.
