Spanish Prosecutors Seek 9-Year Jail Term for Dani Alves over Rape Accusation

Spanish Prosecutors have asked a Court to hand down a nine-year jail term for former Brazil football star Dani Alves who is accused of raping a young woman at a Barcelona nightclub in December 2022.

Prosecutors have also demanded that the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain full-back, who has been in jail since his arrest in January, pay his alleged victim 150,000 euros in compensation.

The 40-year-old former right back has however maintained that he had consensual sex with his accuser.

Immediately after his arrest, Alves was sacked by his Mexican club Pumas UNAM, and has been in prison since then.
