Court Adjourns Emefiele’s Case till January 18, after Failing to Meet Bail Requirements

The Federal Capital Territory High Court, has adjourned the procurement fraud case leveled against the former Governor of the Central Bank, Godwin Emefiele.

The court adjourned the trial of Emefiele to January 18 and 19, 2024. He is standing trial on a six count charge on alleged fraudulent procurement of vehicles to the tune of N1.6 billion.

And although he was granted bail to the tune of N300 million, he was however unable to meet the bail conditions when he appeared today before the Court.

Emefiele’s lawyer, Mathew Burkaa, said his client is yet to meet his bail conditions, which is likely that he could not get the 2 sureties to stand him for me.
