The Supreme Court has delivered a landmark judgment by reversing the ruling of the Tribunal and the Court of Appeal which had both sacked Kano state governor Abba Yusuf.
The Supreme Court in a significant reversal of the prior judgments, said that the Court of Appeal erred in upholding the tribunal’s decision, which claimed that Yusuf did not secure the majority of lawful votes in the Governorship Election.
Justice John Okoro, who delivered the judgment, said the apex court focused on two critical issues: firstly, questioning the correctness of the lower court’s deduction of 165,616 votes from the governor.
Justice Okoro firmly stated that the tribunal was wrong to have deducted the votes.
