“The Beginning of The End” – Kemi Adetiba Initiates Pre-production for ‘King of Boys’ Sequel Introducing Fresh Faces

Renowned Nigerian filmmaker, Kemi Adetiba, has announced the initiation of the pre-production phase for the eagerly awaited sequel to “King of Boys” (KOB).

In an Instagram post, Adetiba hinted at the comeback of the blockbuster thriller, titled “KOB 3: The Beginning of the End”. She revealed that this upcoming production would introduce new characters alongside a few returning ones, as casting calls have already commenced.

Offering a glimpse into what awaits the audience this time, the filmmaker suggested that KOB 3 would surpass expectations in every imaginable way. “The new KOB installment is ELEVATED in every way you could imagine… And I’m honoured to be able to come back to tell this story”, she expressed.

The Nigerian crime-political thriller narrates the journey of Alhaja Eniola Salami, portrayed by veteran actress Sola Sobowale, as she grapples with the pursuit of power through her political ambitions.

The first part, “King of Boys”, released in 2018, introduced Eniola‘s character and delved into key aspects of her past and present. Concluding its cinematic run with a total gross of ₦244 million, it currently ranks as the 13th highest-grossing Nigerian movie.

The second instalment, a seven-part series titled “King of Boys: The Return of the King”, premiered on Netflix on August 27, 2021. It unfolded Eniola‘s ascent into legitimate political power after spending five years in exile.

The cast includes Toni Tones, Reminisce, Illbliss, Akin Lewis, Osas Ighodaro, Nse Ikpe-Etim, Jide Kosoko, Adesua Etomi, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Efa Iwara, Deyemi Okanlawon, Titi Kuti, Keppy Ekpeyong, Bimbo Manuel, Charly Boy, Sharon Ooja, and Taiwo Ajayi-Lycett.
