Supreme Court Affirms Election Victory of Ogun, Nasarawa and Delta State Governors

The Supreme Court has affirmed the election of Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun.

The Court in its ruling dismissed the appeal filed by Ladi Adebutu of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) challenging the election of Governor Abiodun.

Adebutu’s appeal contends that the election of Governor Abiodun did not comply with the electoral laws and that the Governor did not score the lawful majority votes.

But the apex court dismissed the appeal for lack of merit and affirmed Governor Abiodun’s win in the election.

The Supreme Court also dismissed all three appeals to overturn Sheriff Oborevwori’s election victory as governor of Delta State. The apex court in its ruling upheld the election win of Sheriff Oborevwori as the duly elected governor of Delta State.

Also on Friday, the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal of the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate David Umbugadu challenging the election of Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State.

The court in a unanimous decision dismissed the appeal for lack of merit and upheld the election win of Governor Sule.
