Lagos City Marathon: State Government Announce Traffic Diversion on Major Roads

The Lagos State Government has issued a travel advisory ahead of the annual Access Bank Lagos City Marathon scheduled for Saturday, February 10.

The Lagos state Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, who announced this on Friday, said the marathon will take place between the hours of 5. am and 2. pm on Saturday.

To ensure the smooth flow of the marathon, the state government has announced the shutdown of some major roads, with a traffic advisory issued to provide alternative routes.

The ninth edition of the Lagos City Marathon holding on Saturday, will be used to select qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. A total of 81 elite runners from across the world are set to participate in the event which flags off at the National Stadium, Surulere.

As with previous years, the 2024 Lagos Marathon features the 42km race for elite athletes and the 10km race, mainly contested by amateur sports enthusiasts.
