In a significant development, Portuguese manager Jose Peseiro has officially resigned as the manager of the Super Eagles, following the expiration of his contract on Thursday.
Peseiro, who guided the Eagles to a commendable second-place finish at the 2023 African Cup of Nations, announced his departure on Friday, expressing his satisfaction with coaching the West African nation.
Peseiro in a message on X said, “After concluding our contract with the NFF yesterday, I take pride in and am honored to have coached the Super Eagles. It has been 22 months filled with immense dedication, sacrifice, emotion, and overwhelming enthusiasm. We feel a profound sense of fulfillment.
“We want to extend our gratitude to Sir Amaju Pinnick (the president who signed us), President Ibrahim Gusau, General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, Secretary Dayo Enebi, the NFF, all the Staff, and especially all the PLAYERS, with whom leading has been a great pleasure.
“Guys, we are grateful; it has been a privilege to be part of this family. We will miss you, but we will always be there for you, no matter where you are. A big hug to all of you”.
