The Court Of Appeal sitting in Abuja has affirmed Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).

The Appeal Court in its judgment also set aside the decision of the Federal Capital Territory High Court which in 2023 restrained Abure and two others from parading themselves as national officers of the party, for allegedly forging the party’s documents.

In the judgement delivered by Justice Hamma Barka, the Appeal Court ruled that the FCT High Court was wrong to have assumed jurisdiction on the matter. The Court of Appeal also awarded a cost of 1 million Naira in favour of Abure and against the respondent, Lamidi Apapa.

The ruling of the Appeal Court comes a few weeks after the Police arrested Julius Abure in Benin City for “attempted murder, illegal possession of firearms, and related offences”.
