The corpse of an 11-year-old girl has been recovered by emergency responders at the scene of the mosque that collapsed in the Papa Ajao area of Lagos State on Sunday.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident while responding to one of our correspondent’s inquiries about the rescue operation at the scene of the tragedy.

He said, “The rescue operation is ongoing but as I speak with you, the corpse of an 11-year-old girl has been recovered. The operation is still ongoing.”

PUNCH Online gathered that people were in the mosque when it suddenly caved in during afternoon prayers.

While some people escaped from the incident, others, who were unlucky, got trapped under the rubble.

Alarmed by the development, people, while attempting to rescue some of the trapped victims, informed emergency responders, including the police who stormed the premises.
