Confusion as Ajuri Ngelale dismisses Bayo Onanuga’s statement of President Tinubu making a state of the Nation Address

Confusion has emerged within the presidency regarding President Bola Tinubu’s scheduled address to the National Assembly.

Earlier on Tuesday, May 28, Bayo Onanuga who is the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, had announced via his X handle that President Tinubu would address a joint session of the National Assembly on Wednesday, as part of the 25th anniversary of Nigeria’s democratic journey.

The National Assembly Clerk, Sani Magaji, also confirmed the report.

However, Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, refutes these claims, stating that the information was “false and unauthorized”.

He said the Office of the President was not involved in planning the event.

“In furtherance of his commitment to delivering good governance, President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated strategic projects across the country. President Tinubu’s administration will inaugurate more transformative projects for the benefit of all Nigerians.

In view of public commentary concerning the President delivering a speech before a Joint Sitting of the National Assembly tomorrow, May 29, 2024, it is important to state that this information is false and unauthorized as the Office of the President was not involved in the planning of the event.”
