Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has expressed her outrage and disbelief over the reinstatement of Nigeria’s former national anthem.

President Bola Tinubu’s signing of the National Anthem Bill 2024 has sparked widespread criticism from citizens, who feel that the move is tone-deaf given the country’s current economic hardships and lack of effective governance.

On her social media page, Kate Henshaw sarcastically lamented the decision, questioning the logic behind reverting to a colonial-era anthem in the midst of widespread suffering and poor leadership. She wrote:

“In the midst of excruciating hardship and a complete lack of good governance at every level, but fear not! Going back to a colonial anthem will surely be a soothing balm and inject much-needed patriotism back into our veins – a much-needed drug, indeed!

“The labor of our heroes past… O ti lo (It’s not in vain).”
