Police interrogates MohBad’s father over alleged defamation

Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer Mohbad, was questioned by the Force Criminal Investigation Department at Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos, on Monday.

This follows a petition by Oba Saheed Elegushi alleging cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and criminal defamation.

The allegations stem from a recent interview where Aloba claimed his son was bullied and killed on the instruction of Oba Elegushi.

Aloba clarified that his intention was to seek justice for his son, not to defame the monarch. He admitted lacking concrete evidence beyond a petition written by his late son and phone conversations.

Oba Elegushi requested a retraction of the statements. Aloba was granted bail without complications and was not arrested or detained.

His legal team acknowledged that Aloba’s statements may have been emotionally charged as he is still mourning his son’s controversial death on September 12, 2023, at 27.
