My marriage ended cause I was the breadwinner – Yvonne Jegede

In an interview on the upcoming episode of “The Honest Bunch” podcast, Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede revealed that she ended her marriage due to financial imbalances and disrespect.

Jegede confirmed that she was the primary breadwinner, stating, “I was bringing more of the money” and felt overwhelmed by the responsibility of sole provision for her son.

The actress also cited her ex-husband’s sensitivity to jokes, stemming from their age difference, as a contributing factor. “He’s eight years older than me…if I made a joke, he’d take it as disrespect,” she explained.

Jegede expressed regret for prioritizing love over financial stability, saying, “I would have gone for money instead of love.”

This revelation comes three years after she confirmed the end of her marriage to actor Olakunle ‘Abounce’ Fawole in 2019, just a year after their wedding.
