The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed that the country has recorded a total of 170 deaths from Lassa fever this year.
The NCDC in its latest weekly update (weeks 25-27) on the Lassa fever outbreak, says the total confirmed cases of Lassa fever this year is 990, while the suspected cases stand at 6,364.
So far, Lassa fever has affected 108 local government areas in 28 states of the federation, with 73 percent of all confirmed Lassa fever cases reported from just three states (Ondo, Edo, and Bauchi) while 27 percent were reported from the 25 other states.
