Netflix inflates subscription price by 40% in Nigeria

Netflix has announced its second price increase in Nigeria within a span of three months. The latest hike sees the Premium Plan rising by 40% to N7,000, while the Standard Plan increases by 37.5% to N5,500. The Basic Plan now costs N3,500, a 21% increase, and the Mobile Plan has surged by 83% to N2,200.

This price adjustment is part of Netflix’s global strategy to periodically revise subscription fees to support its expanding content offerings and drive revenue growth.

The move comes as Nigerians face high inflation rates, making entertainment services like Netflix less affordable for many households.

In response to growing competition and a challenging year, Netflix has also introduced a lower-priced, ad-supported subscription tier, “Basic with Ads,” in select markets.
