Tinubu Summons Security Chiefs For Urgent Talks On #EndBadGovernance Protests

The Federal Executive Council meeting originally scheduled for today (Monday) has been postponed to a yet-to-be-announced date.

Instead, President Bola Tinubu will meet with security chiefs.

According to Punch Newspaper, some ministers had already arrived and were seated in anticipation of the meeting, but the President, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume were absent.

A minister, speaking anonymously to The PUNCH, confirmed that the meeting had been rescheduled for a later date, which would be disclosed soon.

“It is no longer holding today. But you know, the council meets on Mondays only when there are issues to discuss,” the minister said.

“The meeting itself was impromptu because the notice came out last night,” said one source who asked to remain anonymous.

Presidency sources also revealed that President Tinubu is scheduled to meet with Service Chiefs at 2:00 pm to discuss the nationwide protests, among other matters.

“Yes, FEC was postponed, but there will be a security meeting at 2:00 pm,” the source said.

Nigerians, predominantly youths, have stormed the streets on Monday, the fifth day of the #EndBadGovernance protests.
