In an electrifying finale at the 2024 Paris Games, Spain triumphed over France 5-3 in extra time, securing their first Olympic gold medal in men’s soccer in 32 years.

France initially took the lead with Enzo Millot’s goal in the 11th minute, but Spain swiftly responded with a trio of goals in just ten minutes, courtesy of Fermín López’s double and Álex Baena’s expertly curved free kick.

Despite France’s remarkable comeback, equalizing 3-3 with Jean-Philippe Mateta’s penalty kick in stoppage time, Spain’s substitute Sergio Camello emerged as the hero, scoring twice in extra time to seal the victory.

This monumental win marks Spain’s return to the top of the Olympic podium in men’s soccer, while France earns their first Olympic medal in the sport in four decades.
