The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested lawmaker Alex Mascot Ikwechegh for allegedly assaulting a driver in Abuja.

According to Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer, Ikwechegh is currently being questioned at the Maitama Police Station.

The incident occurred during a delivery to Ikwechegh’s residence, where a dispute arose over the delivery method. Driver Stephen Abuwatseya reported the matter to the police, alleging physical assault.

Ikwechegh’s reported response, “You can go ahead and call the Inspector General of Police,” has drawn concern from the FCT Police Command, highlighting a disregard for authority.

Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu has ordered a thorough investigation, ensuring impartiality and appropriate legal action upon completion.

This development underscores the importance of accountability, particularly for public figures. The Nigeria Police Force is taking this case seriously to ensure justice is served.
