The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has revealed an alleged plot involving an oil cabal in Nigeria collaborating with international oil companies (IOCs) to undermine private refineries such as Dangote Petroleum Refinery.
Speaking at the November 2024 Abuja Special Holy Ghost Service, Adeboye urged Nigerians to pray for divine intervention against the actions of corrupt oil marketers who are working to create hardship for the people.
The cleric highlighted that these marketers are actively hindering the refinery’s operations, citing previous sabotage of Nigeria’s four state-owned refineries. Adeboye reminded the congregation that it was by God’s inspiration that Aliko Dangote was able to establish a functional refinery after years of failed attempts to revive the country’s public refineries, which had consumed billions of Naira with little result.
He expressed concern over Nigeria’s ongoing dependence on fuel imports, despite the country being a major crude oil producer. “Are we under a curse?” he asked. “We have four refineries, we’ve poured so much money into them, and none of them is working.”
Adeboye continued, “But God raised someone to build a refinery that works. He’s not my relative, not from my village, not even a Christian, but he’s a Nigerian who thought, ‘Why should my people suffer when I have the means to build a refinery that works?’ Now he’s refining petrol, yet some people want to stop him from selling it, so they can continue importing.”
